Libraries & Turtles
A downloadable game for Windows
Libraries & Turtles is a small prototype I made using Game Maker Studio as part of my coursework.
The player plays as an ambiguous, turtle-esque adventurer who delves into ancient libraries looking for treasure.
The player does this by platforming through the level, collecting coins, gems, and scrolls. Within the library, there are multiple NPCs that will ask the player to collect a certain amount of these different collectibles. There is also a third NPC off to the side that if found will give the player additional treasure for finding them.
In order to escape the library dungeon with the treasure, the player must complete the quests for the two NPCs in the level. They must then locate the exit door, where they may then leave, seeing their score. Their score is calculated by multiplying their extracted treasure by various amounts.
If the player replays, they would attempt to beat their previous score, collecting more treasures and attempting to get higher rolls for each treasure they collect. Failing to beat your previous record would be considered a loss in some way.
